Q&A, with Jeremy Babcock

Hey! Jeremy Babcock here. Working in the adult industry has been a wild and unexpected career pivot for me over the last 7+ years. In so many ways my job has become my whole life. Even when I’m not on the clock, I’m still thinking about porn. Who would look good together, why is today’s scene underperforming, what concepts can I write? It goes on and on. Even when I’m out socializing, especially around new people, the topic often turns to porn. I’m ALWAYS answering questions. Friends, strangers, fans, it doesn’t matter. Everybody has a fascination with the ‘tea’ behind the scenes. How it all comes together. What REALLY goes down on a porn set? “Do you ever get turned on when filming?” Honestly, that’s gotta be the number 1, for sure.

All of this to say, I love talking about smut. This post is going to kick off a new series on the blog where I’ll answer your questions. About? Really, anything! I’m an open book when it comes to porn, the industry, production, casting, writing, my opinions, etc. This series will be a place where you can ask your wildest porn industry questions, and I’ll do my best to break it down for you. It’s kind of an “Ask Me Anything” experiment. We’ll leave the questions submission open, and I’ll do a monthly post to answer as many as I can.

As briefly as possible, here’s a bit about me, for context. I’ve been in the industry for seven-ish years now. I started out doing a few scene video edits for Next Door Studios, which quickly led to a role being on set for all of 2019 doing BTS and social media. About midway through 2019, I ended up having to jump in and direct scenes for a couple of months as we looked for a new director to hire, eventually passing off those duties to Walden Woods.

I’d initially stepped one foot out the door in early 2020, a little exhausted from the bi-weekly travel, but I’d stayed on for casting and scheduling support. Then covid hit and changed the world… and over the course of lockdowns I’d gone from part time to ultimately taking over operations later in the year – eventually taking on the Chief Creative Officer title.

Unusual circumstances struck again in early 2023, when we were suddenly short-staffed for a Next Door Films run. I flew down and directed for the week on short notice – my first time directing in over three years! That shoot week lit a fire that motivated me to keep this rolling, directing the “Changes” feature a couple of months later. I’ve since continued to knock out about 10 scenes a year, mostly Films releases and Features – most of which I now write, as well.

All of this to say… I wear a lot of hats. Casting, production planning, writing, directing, social marketing, AI chat character development, brand management. You name it, I’ve probably meddled with it in some capacity.

So ask away! If you have questions about any aspect of the industry or how things work, this is your chance to ask!  If there’s interest, I’m hoping to keep this “Q&A” series rolling with some model interviews, as well.

I see today that AI Roleplay is gone. Why on earth would ASGMAX get rid of such a fantastic feature?

The submission form would not connect, so I will ask here. How are the “thumbs up” percentage’s calculated. They seem to bear no resemblance to the number of views.

is the casting couch a real thing? What do you in the industry ask the new models to do or not to do?

Hi Jeremy, love ASG. The frequency of releases, high quality actors, scripts, cinematography… top notch. So cool that you all did “Pissed.” Any more waterworks planned? Would love to see them “sprinkled” in from time to time. 🙂

Hi Jeremy! fan for a long time! Any chance we could get some subtitles added to films to accommodate hard of hearing folks?

Great question. I’ve asked around to see if I can learn anything on that.

Hi Jeremy. I was wondering, what is the porn industry’s reaction in general to all of the recent state laws requiring age verification to access adult sites?
How have they affected your operations?
Have you seen a significant decline in traffic from those states?
What are your plans to keep going in light of these laws?
What do the models think about them?
Do you think these laws will continue to expand in number and/or scope?
Are people actually registering with age verification for adult sites in the affected states?

Just wondering how come we see some really got models for year or two and then poof they disappear? Why does that happen?

just read that Scott Finn has passed away. I was very saddened by how you felt when you found out.

He was one of my first friends in the industry. I was really sad to hear the news.
