Coming home was supposed to be the easy part. “Nanny Cam,” the latest release from Disruptive Films’ “Deviants” series, arrives June 5 on ASGmax — written and directed by Micah Martinez, and starring Carter Woods and Eddie Patrick in a slow-burn confrontation that takes a very unexpected turn.
Carter has just returned from a long deployment overseas to find that his lifelong friend Eddie Patrick hasn’t exactly been keeping his distance from Carter’s wife. The evidence is right there on footage from a nanny cam Carter left hidden in the house before he shipped out — twelve months of it. When Carter calls Eddie in under the pretense of a friendly reunion, Eddie has no idea what’s waiting for him. Carter does.
What follows is a calculated reckoning that keeps Eddie off-balance from the first moment to the last. Carter controls every beat of the confrontation — the silences, the escalation, the moment the power dynamic shifts in a direction neither Eddie’s faith nor his marriage prepared him for. Deviants keeps the tension coiled and deliberate, letting Carter’s quiet menace do more damage than any explosion could, until the only way out for Eddie is the one he never saw coming.
“Nanny Cam was such a fun, outlandish and dark script to come up with, “Writer/Director Martinez commented, “The concept was originally from Trevor Harris when I asked him if there was anything dark he could think up. Together we came up with this scene idea! It was a blast to be a part of the creative process from start to finish and see this new scene come to life. Carter and Eddie did a phenomenal job playing these two roles. Eddie was such a great fit for a good ol ‘church boy and Carter always plays a phenomenal but emotionally driven bad ass.”
Eddie Patrick commented on the scene: “Carter Woods is so hot it’s like getting paid to do what I would have done for free.”
Fans of Carter Woods won’t have to wait long to see him again. On June 26, Disruptive Films launches “The Hive: Ovum” — Part 1 of an ambitious four-part cinematic feature written and directed by Micah Martinez. Carter’s boyfriend Andrew Delta has been talked into a three-week stay at the Apiary Falls Wellness Retreat by their buddy Trevor Harris, and Carter isn’t buying what they’re selling for a second. What begins as a couple’s disagreement becomes something far more unsettling once Andrew arrives at Apiary Falls — and what waits for him there is something neither of them was prepared for. Parts 2 through 4 follow through August. This one is built to be followed from the beginning.
