Disruptive Films: Two Major Wins, One Defining Moment

Disruptive Films: Two Major Wins, One Defining Moment. When Wild Game and “Breaking Free” from Disruptive Films’ new Deviants line were recognized at the XMAs Awards and the GayVN Awards, the moment felt significant not because of the trophies themselves, but because of what those wins affirmed.

Together, the awards recognized two very different projects shaped by the same creative values. Wild Game—Disruptive’s collaboration with NakedSword—received Best Gay Movie at the XBIZ Awards and Best Feature at the GayVN Awards, honoring a large-scale narrative collaboration built on long-standing partnerships and shared trust. Deviants, a brand still in its earliest chapter, earned its first major industry win, signaling that there is space—and appetite—for intimacy that is intentional, story-driven, and unafraid to sit in darker emotional territory.

For Wild Game co-director Jessica Jasmin, the collaboration behind Wild Game never felt like a calculated move. It felt like timing finally catching up to intention. “Falcon has been a partner of Gamma for a long time, so this collaboration didn’t feel like a decision. It felt inevitable.”

That sense of alignment deepened when she met Wild Game co-director Ben Rush two years earlier. From the beginning, their conversations weren’t about if they would work together, but when. “We immediately bonded over the same instinct,” she explains. “Telling stories that lean darker. Stories that aren’t afraid to sit in the shadows.”

Both Jasmin and Rush won Best Director for Wild Game, and the partnership ultimately became about more than a single feature. It marked the beginning of a new way of collaborating—one rooted in creative trust rather than obligation.

“This project became more than a film,” Jasmin says. “It was the first door we opened, not the last. Every step forward felt aligned, like the partners and the vision were already waiting for us.”

If Wild Game represents what can happen when long-term creative relationships finally converge, Disruptive Films’ Deviants represents something equally important: what can happen when a new idea is given room to grow quietly and deliberately.

The Deviants line began internally, sparked by a question posed by Taylor Saracen and another team member who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

“What would it look like to apply disruptive storytelling not just to narrative,” Saracen asks, “but to sex itself?”

The goal was never to become a kink brand. Instead, the intention was to extend the same care already being applied to story, tone, and emotion into intimacy itself.

“We were never interested in shock for shock’s sake,” Saracen says. “We were already pushing boundaries through story. It felt honest—almost necessary—to explore what happens when that same intention extends into intimacy. Story first. Always. That’s what ‘Breaking Free’ delivered. Directors Siouxsie Q and Michael Vegas have a great eye. Jessica ❲Jasmin❳ knew they were the people to bring this one to life.”

That approach resonated immediately with ASGmax members and continued to build momentum with each release. When Deviants earned its first industry win, the recognition felt less like a finish line and more like confirmation.

“It felt like a quiet acknowledgment from our peers,” Saracen adds, “that we were doing something different—something thoughtful, intentional, and special.”

Taken together, the wins for Wild Game and “Breaking Free” mark a defining moment not because they celebrate scale or novelty, but because they validate a shared philosophy: that trust makes braver work possible, and that intention, whether applied to narrative or intimacy, still matters
