Next Door Films Crew Shares The Creative Process of “No Strings Attached”

In celebration of the third episode of Next Door Films’ flirty exploration of the thin line between friendship and fucking, No Strings Attached, we sat down with the film’s producer, Jeremy Babcock, and director, Conrad Parker, to find out more about the movie’s motivation and cinematography. 

“We really wanted to explore a more ‘realistic’ version of the step-brother dynamic among a group of friends, alongside the more common gay dynamics of going from hook-ups to friends or from friends to friends ‘with benefits,’” Babcock explains. “The goal of any Next Door Films release is to tell a more compelling story within the really common tropes and stories we’re usually telling. With this 3-part format, you get to spend even more time with the guys, and getting a little more context around their hookups and the feelings (or lack thereof that can occur).” 

Without giving too much of the remainder of the movie away, Babcock shares, “It’s a story of friendship and how sex can complicate things within a friend group, with the added twist of a new addition to the group, who everyone has their eyes on.” This new addition brings a fresh dynamic to the group, intensifying the existing tensions and attractions.

Casting was of great importance considering the content of the film, and the magnetism it’s characters needed to have. 

“We like to bring in a mix of acting chops, fresh faces, and guys who fit the characters we wanted to include,” Babcock says. “Jayden is an amazing actor, so he was the anchor piece, and we built from there.  Kam Stone was just recently signed as an Exclusive when this project shot, so that was a great ‘new’ face.  Andrew Miller, even in a small role, always brings charm and depth.  Then, Grant Ducati was just somebody who really felt like a perfect “new guy” character.  A little younger, a little more (seemingly) innocent.  3 of the guys are exclusive models and all 4 are member favorites.  It was just a good combination of talent.”

The models’ natural abilities impressed Parker. “While filming, we encountered various challenges typical of the production process. However, through collaboration, adaptability, and creative problem-solving, we successfully navigated these obstacles to deliver a compelling final product. We had the opportunity to bring to life a story that evokes emotions in the audience. This film, through its captivating visuals and compelling narrative, embodies that satisfaction of connecting with viewers on a profound level.”

No Strings Attached stands out as a thoughtful and engaging exploration of friendship, desire, and the complexities of human relationships. Through its realistic portrayal of characters and situations, combined with a talented cast and a compelling story line, the film is a memorable addition to Next Door Films’ impressive catalog.
