Craft Chat: Writing “Welcome Home” with Micah Martinez

Micah Martinez makes his ASGmax full feature writing debut with Welcome Home, a film that originated from his own concept and personal perspective. He shares insight into the inspiration, themes, and characters that shape the story.

For Micah, Welcome Home is deeply rooted in the evolution of friendships as we grow older. “My inspiration for Welcome Home was honestly very much about how friendships mature with us as we get older,” he explains. “Nothing stays the same, and people don’t either. I like looking at adult friendships as this very fluid, abstract idea—just like sexuality. None of it stays the same, and people can surprise us in just as many good ways as bad.”

This exploration of shifting relationships drives the film’s storyline, making it a unique and thought-provoking narrative about personal connections and identity.

At its core, Welcome Home challenges perceptions and expectations. Micah emphasizes the film’s central message: “Never judge a book by its cover. Just when you think you know something or someone, it WILL change.” This theme resonates throughout the film, keeping audiences on their toes as they navigate the unpredictable dynamics between characters.

A key aspect of Welcome Home is its nuanced approach to character development. Micah wanted to break away from conventional tropes, ensuring that every character felt genuine and multidimensional. “Everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with—I fully expected them to be able to pull off this feature no problem,” he says. “In terms of characters, I wanted everyone to be more than just a cutout of a porn cliché. Just like real life, all of these characters and actors have levels.”

By crafting authentic, layered characters, Welcome Home brings a level of depth and realism that sets it apart. Micah’s passion for storytelling and character-driven narratives is evident, making his first feature with ASGmax a great addition to his impressive body of work.

Thank you for all the work you put into making ASGMAX better for all of us Micah. Please come through with the wrestling story, with the wrestlers in speedos and doing hot sexy holds in a wrestling ring. 6 foot 3 Caden Jackson, Carter Woods, Eddie Patrick, Ryder Owens, Kam Stone, Jayden Marcos, Sean Xavier, Kyler Drake, Ryan Russo, Ryan Rush, Boe Jack Ryan, and Kyle Denton would be excellent in and out of the wrestling ring. You would be great in front of the camera too.
